Hurricane Katrina 2005-2006 Darrell provided Housing Management. Moved professional healthcare workers to affected areas. Flooding caused problems with transportation and accommodation. Solved with the use of a cruise ship. Hurricane Katrina was a Category 5 hurricane that made landfall on Florida and Louisiana in August 2005, causing catastrophic damage, particularly in the city of New Orleans and the surrounding areas, and over 1,200 deaths. Darrell sourced, developed and managed 3 warehouses to supply Olympic venues in different locations. Challenged to find sufficient space in transportation grid in an Olympic city. Creatively sourced over 900,000 square feet and managed the flow of supplies seamlessly.
Darrell created and managed operating process for accreditation for 70,000 authorized NFL recipients. Difficulty was to understand the unique requirements of each location and of the NFL. Worked closely with the NFL to solve all issues and develop a process to their satisfaction that achieved security and their desired experience for guests.
Bruce Founded Destination Sochi which became the largest and most successful destination-event management company in Sochi. Provided complex services to 45 Olympic broadcasters, sponsors and partners. Sourced and managed venues, TV studios, accommodation. Provided transportation teams, staffing interpreters, laundry. Challenges were the limited capacity for virtually everything, constant scrutiny from local officials and time constraints created by changing needs of customers and shortage of English speakers. Spent 2 1/2 years building a database of solutions for all contingencies and a team of 61 to manage and execute customers’ plans. Previously learned to speak Russian in order to work effectively.

Darrell served as Senior Facility Manager/Transportation Manager. Developed and designed main distribution center and subsidiary locations. Included both suite and bus operations. Challenged to find suitable land for transportation hubs within budgetary restraints. Worked with the Toronto Port Authority to develop a plan using unconventional land resources.

Bruce served as Event Manager. Fasten, a ridesharing company had a food/music festival for 6,200. Managed venue selection and contracting, catering, alcohol, food trucks, security, permitting, additional AC, promotions, FF&E. Challenged by 3 1/2 week time frame and 105 degree heat.
Bruce founded Destination Rio to provide destination management services to Olympic broadcasters, sponsors and partners. Challenge created by short time window, new country, new laws and difficulty in renting residential accommodation due to squatters. Arrived in Rio 2 years before the Olympics.
